We live in times in which cancer research is evolving at a rapid pace, and the focus is now on the utilization of technological advances to serve the individual patient. Technologies like Next Generation Sequencing have transformed oncology because it allows the molecular understanding of cancer as a personal and heterogeneous disease and forced the development of novel cancer therapeutics targeting the genetic cause of individual patient’s tumor.

Shantou University Medical College-Driver Laboratory seeks to a series of cancer-related research in academic and scientific endeavors by providing sequencing, computational biology, and other molecular-related support. We are recruiting the lab technician for pathology operation. Details as follow.

Position Summary： 職位介紹

The position is responsible for the cutting, straining and preparation of tissue samples to be examined by the pathologist within the Clinical Laboratory.

Qualifications能力要求

1. Bachelor degree in a biological, physical science or similar discipline. Master degree preferred.

2. Related experience in a clinical laboratory environment

3. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and multi-tasking skills

4. Good at reading, writing and oral English.

5. Histology or related laboratory experience preferred but not required

Position Responsibilities工作職責(zé)

Responsibilities include (but no limited to):

1. Specimen receipt and accession

2. Prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s), according to policies and procedures

3. Perform microtomy of embedded tissue

4. Prepare slides for and perform H&E staining, IHC staining and other special stain procedures

5. Perform cover slipping of stained slides

6. Prepare solutions and regents for IHC procedures

7. Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment such as microscopes, microtomes, immunostainers, and water baths

8. Assist in the development of immunohistochemistry assays

9. Maintain a clean and well-organized work area

10. Review and approve procedures with respect to histology and histology-related procedures
